Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV Buy Now

I ordered this October 25th and just got it last night. I had ordered it at a cheaper price elsewhere but kept getting out of stock on my order even though I had ordered it when it said it was in stock. This must be a popular item.
Unpacking it is easy. I agree that the manual is lacking and uses "mouse" print size text. No mention of the battery and what to do with the green plastic on it. I wondered if I should take it off but found a plastic tab that looks like a pull out tab once it is seated so I left it on.

I had the same error message mentioned in another review when trying to scan for channels. The instructions said to press "mode" and then "OK" but that didn't work. Pressing "menu" by itself did work after about 4 tries and it did scan easily. I have a large Terk - Amplified Indoor Antenna Model: TV5 | SKU: 3394455 which I hooked it up to and it pulled in about 90 channels. I live in Cambridge, MA. The antenna is way bigger than the TV but I had purchased it to try to get my old TV to work with a digital converter and that antenna. It was a complete wash so that's why I purchased the Haier. I was afraid that my bedroom is a dead location for reception and was really happy to finally see it pulling in any channels at all.
I haven't had a chance to try the single rabbit ear that came with it or see what it does on battery power. I am really thrilled with the quality of the picture, solid feel of the rubberized black surround and all the features in this very small TV. I'll get back to you all later about the reception without the Turk antenna, but I'm sure it has to do with location, location, location.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.
