
I read the reviews and thought that maybe some owners got early units that had the "no database" problem upon turn-on and that perhaps it was fixed in later units. It wasn't.
The funny thing is, you can manually enter analog channels that are stored in the database but there's apparently no way to enter HD channel numbers manually that you can similarly store (forget the "dash" button--it doesn't help). If it could, you could live with the product, sort of, anyway. Too bad--you can't.
So back it goes and in comes a re-certified Viewsonic 16" HDTV that tilts, has a great picture, HDMI, VGA, S-Video in, etc., and actually remembers the channels you program into it when you power-cycle it--Eureka!
