We tried the Haier HLT71 TV by putting it next to our 25-year old 5" Emerson (which will be useless once the digital conversion takes place). The Haier sound and picture quality were much worse. The sound was like mice in a tin can and the picture looked like an Arctic snowstorm compared with the old CRT TV. Also we could get only 2 channels, compared with 12 on the old one. Both TVs have the same type antenna - single telescoping mast. And, yes, we performed all proper set up operations on the Haier according to the manual - several times.
By the way - the 7" Haier screen was the same size as the old Emerson 5", just wider, which stretches out your picture so that round heads become oval heads.
Since we got it at Amazon, it was simple to return. Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.
