Save Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I needed a portable LCD TV that could function after the change to digital format after February. We live in Florida adn if the power goes out in summer during Hurricane season, a portable TV is invaluable.
This little TV is perfect! Rechargeable, great picture, and easy to use.
Works with both analog and digital signals, and it comes with cables to connect it to your gaming system to take on the road too!Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

I ordered this little portable in advance of (what I thought) was the digital switch-over to replace the little tv in our kitchen. I had to connect the tv to an external, powered antenna as we live in a rural area. With the external antenna we get a clear and crisp picture. The tv receives both digital and analog channels. I really like the controls on this little unit and can alter the picture brightness and contrast to suit our bright kitchen.

The only down side as I see it are the speakers. They are very tinny. I have connected a small set of battery-powered ipod speakers that make the sound quite a bit better!

Other than that, I really like this tv and would recommend it to others. I imagine if I lived in a metro area that the supplied antenna would work fine. This tv will work easily on both battery (supplied) or house current.

Cheapest Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I really wanted to keep this little TV; the picture was beautiful; I really liked the rubberized casing; and size was perfect. The little antenna, of course, would not work; however, I thought a connection to an external antenna would; unfortunately for me, the digital tuner was just not capabale of picking up our local stations. I realize that there are many factors influencing TV reception - especially digital; however, I have 3 sources within my home on which I am able to watch all our local digital stations with no problems, using antique rabbit ears which I've saved thru the years. I live ~ 30 miles or so from a major metropolitan area and there are 30-40 stations available. I use a USB HD tuner on my Vista laptop and have a digital converter box hooked up to an older TV; in addition, I can receive all the channels on a new Sony 46" LCD (whenever cable goes out). Location within the home is a factor; however, no matter where and how I tried to scan and connect, it could only bring in about 3 stations (even though it would "find" 39 stations). So, it may work great for some people, but not in all areas.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

This TV works great for my purposes. With the new digital TV coming into effect, I needed a small TV in my bathroom to be able to watch the news while I get ready for work. This works great! It is small, has a beautiful picture, picks up the digital and analog signals just fine. It was well worth the money.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Buying Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I had this all set up and working in minutes. It's the perfect "kitchen counter" TV--it takes up so little space. The picture on the digital stations is very clear, if a bit dark, but that's easily fixed with the menu controls. I attached an inside digital antenna and get most every digital station in my area. The battery is rechargeable and will run the set for two hours if the power goes out. You get a lot for your money with this TV. I'm very happy I bought it. Where To Buy Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

The Haier HD TV is replacing several analog TVs that I will be loosing when digital only TV comes out. I am using the antenna provided with the portable TV and depending where I am in the house, I pick up different amounts and quality of HD Channels. Upstairs, I pick up the same number of channels as the TV hooked up to an antenna and a digital converter box. Downstairs, I pick up fewer channels and some channels loose signal during while watching it. I would be ideal for someone with an RV or wants to take a tv with you. It beats not having tv due to the digital convertion.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

I owned this TV for a month. At first I thought it was terrific. Beautiful clear picture and good sound for such a small TV. Like others, however, I found that it did not always retain the programmed stations and then had to be reprogrammed every time you turned it off. I called the manufacturer and they admitted this is a problem with the TV. For those who choose to keep theirs I recommend programming fewer stations (program it on its own antenna in a room that does not get perfect reception). My set would remember 30 stations but not 60. The manufacturer's representative confirmed this would sort of fix the problem because the memory can only hold so much. This did fix that problem. However, after about 3 weeks of use the set began to get cranky. Sometimes it would only show analog stations. Sometimes it would say "failed to receive broadcast". Sometimes just a black screen. Five minutes later it would be fine again. Extremely frustrating and very disappointing since a small portable is very useful in a kitchen or bathroom. Amazon has kindly agreed to take it back. I guess I'll wait until digital technology on these small sets has been improved.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I was very anxious to get the little tv as it was going to fit in the kitchen space nicely. Well, it never did work properly. We moved it from room to room and never received a signal. We had it connected to a converter box as well as an antenna. It was a complete disappointment unfortunately. It was returned.

Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV Review

I'm currently located in the middle of Texas, in the middle of nowhere (practically), but have been able to get most of the digital TV channels in this area on the little TV. The picture has been so clear, you'd think you can put your hand through it to grab stuff. The TV frame is rubber (or so) and has been great for those times when you may bump it over (it does have a nice built-in stand. I have not used the remote. The auto-channel search is great. This TV does have a cable TV plug, so I anticipate using it for many years. The screen is "soft" so it won't be happy if it get stuck with a sharp object (hasn't happened to me, but thought I'd throw that in.). Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

This is a great buy. The digital tuner in my area works well and the picture is so clear. It is easy to go from using the enclosed antenna to attaching it to a cable line. I would definitely recommend this television, I've already recommended it to several family members and friends who have bought one and are extremely happy with it.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Haier HLT71 7-Inch Portable LCD TV

I bought this TV in November, received it in December, and in January, less than a month after having the TV, the screen just went dark - picture was there barely in the background, but definitely not viewable. After many phone calls, I finally received the information I needed to return it (you have to box up the TV and send it to one place, then send the paper work to another place and then they want to charge you $14.99 to ship you the new TV. After several more phone calls to check on the status, I finally received another TV on 2-26-09. I hope this one lasts longer than the last one, and if it doesn't, then I will look elsewhere.
The sound is pretty good and not too tinny-sounding for a small TV, but the picture, unless you are fairly close to it, is difficuilt to view. the stand which is attached is not adjustable and when standing, it is at an angle that you have to be almost over it to see it clearly (and I propped mine up with something in front of it just to have it at a comfortable viewing angle for me. You can adjust the contrast and viewing settings, but they really don't change it that much in this TV. It is easy to use however, with a good menu and remote, and it has a black rubberized covering that is attractive and does pretty well in our master bath, which is where I have it now, but with the covering being a rubbery substance, it also tends to collect dust (and hair product overspray)easily (just as a matter of info in case you plan to use in a bathroom setting).
I had a gift card already and for the money at that time, it was worth the money I spent, but I wouldn't purchase it again for the current price, because I'm not too confident how long this one will last and I definitely think the run around you get to return a product when it isn't even a month old, isn't worth the hassle.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV Immediately

I purchased the portable LCD TV about one month ago to replace an analog RCA pocket tv. Prior to making my purchase I read several other reviews of the Haier at amazon.com which were very helpful. For instance I did have to purchase the RCA digital antenna which one reviewer recommended. The digital antenna was necessary because I live approximately 30 miles from the Houston area and the antenna which was supplied with the Haier was not strong enough to pick up the digital signal. Even before digital television we had never been able to obtain a good signal on the local Houston stations. I did use the website antennaweb.org which gave some good information.
The picture is very good and with the digital antenna we can now see all of the local stations much better than with analog. The only problem with the antenna is that you do have to adjust it correctly to get the signal. After playing with it you learn which way it needs to be adjusted for the various stations you want to see. Some of the adjustment might possibly because we use the tv in the downstairs part of our house.
Overall, we are very happy with the tv and it serves its purpose. The price for the Haier was excellent as well since I did not want to spend a lot of money to replace the analog pocket tv.
I would definitely recommend this tv to other buyers and encourage anyone to read the reviews which to me were invaluable.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV Best Quality

The purpose of a portable tv is that it be portable. Portable means a telescoping antenna. This tv's reception didn't match my old vhf/uhf portable tv reception. In fact, it didn't receive any of the digital channels when using the telescoping antenna. Worked beautifully connected to an attic or roof antenna, but that defeats the portability. Otherwise it works great, except the one I got was a little defective. It kept losing the channel memory. I think the power adapter or plug/socket had an intermittent open connection. Amazon was super in taking it back and refunding my money. I have no worries buying from Amazon. Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV Order Now

I love my new Haier 7 inch digital TV. I needed a small TV for my kitchen counter so I could watch the news while in the kitchen. You do need a special digital antenna as the rabbit ear that came with the set gave very poor reception and my set is not connected to a cable. But with the digital one the reception is great. This TV's sound is not the best and is kind of "tinny", but it is still acceptable.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

For 12v TV applications in a car, truck, RV, camper, etc., currently their are only TWO 7" (ATSC-changeover-ready) little TV's on the market: The HAIER brand, and the SUPERSONIC brand. The SUPERSONIC brand is FAR SUPERIOR to the HAIER brand. I have tried them both, and now own the SUPERSONIC brand. The HAIER brand is junk; it will not hold previously-scanned channels in memory. The minute you turn it OFF, all scanned channel memories are LOST. And, the TV must be "auto-scanned" all over again for local channels. Not good. And, HAIER even ADMITS to such in their little "Instruction Manual", where they warn: "NOTE: This TV is intended for CONTINUOUS operation only." I.e., it can't be turned OFF without losing all channels memory. Not good. I.e., the HAIER internal 9v (auxillary) battery must ALWAYS be installed so that "Standby" (and, channels memory) can be maintained. Not good. On the other hand, the SUPERSONIC brand RETAINS all memory, regardless as to turning it off; unplugging it from wall or 12v cigar lighter; removing the 9v "standby" battery (which is in a seperate unit, anyway). Take some good advice: don't buy the HAIER brand. It is JUNK. Have a nice day. (END)Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

well i read all the other reviews and agree to disagree on several points. i love the picture on this little set. clear, sharp and bright. i agree that having to re-scan the channels every time you move the unit is somewhat inconvenient, but its not the fault of the HLT71. its the nature of DTV and your local station antennas. also the provided antenna leaves a little to be desired. i suggest a powered external unit for best reception. would recommend this set to everyone who needs a great portable set.

Low Price Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I ordered this TV to replace the analog mini set I have had in my kitchen for the last 24 years! The reception on this set is non existent! I live well inside the city limits of a major city and shouldnt have problems picking up digital signals. I had to go out on my deck and hold the tv up in the air to get it to find the digital stations and back inside, it can not pick them up at all. I am hugely disappointed in this! I just want a little TV to watch the news when I am cooking. Thankfully, we got a reprieve and I pulled my old one back out and will be able to use it until June. This was a big waste of money!Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

This receiver has all the goodies, and works great. The one thing it needs is a Philips digital tuner. I tried it in San Antonio, TX where the city stations are located less than 15 miles from my home. It would not pick up any of the 5 stations now broadcasting digital. I also have a 19" Magnavox using an old rabbit-ear antenna (not amplified) which received them all fine. I connected the Haier to this antenna also, but still no reception. The Magnavox has the Philips tuner, as does one of the two new sets recently shown at the Las Vegas Electronics Show just weeks ago. I loved this Haier Tv and even though it didn't work for me, it may be just fine in your area depending on distance, buildings, etc.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

I really loved the Haier and wanted it to work. It had a beautiful picture, I liked the rubberized body, the remote with volume control and power on/off, etc. But, like so many others have experienced, the first one I received wouldn't hold the channels in memory. I called Haier's customer service, and the tech acknowledged the problem and said they were waiting to hear from "corporate" about how they would be addressing the problem. He didn't know how long that would take, however. Since some reviewers didn't have the problem, I took a chance and returned it to Amazon for an exchange. Same problem with the replacement. So I returned that one, too, and then ordered the Axion 7".

Contrary to what another reviewer said about it not being the fault of the TV but rather where you live and the digital signals, it IS the TV. I live in a major metro area. The Axion 7" I ordered to replace the Haier has received, and held in memory, multiple channels. So has a 19-inch Sanyo digital HDTV that I recently ordered from Walmart for my bedroom (great little TV, BTW). And I use the little antenna that came with the Axion, and a cheapo RCA Ant111 antenna with the 19" Sanyo. Neither is hooked up to cable or satellite, and they both have beautiful pictures and reception.

I don't have any axe to grind in favor of the Axion. In all other ways, I preferred the Haier. I just didn't want to live with having to scan for channels every time I turn it on, and not knowing if I would get ABC or NBC or CBS from one day/scan to the next. For those of you who received a "good" one, congratulations. I'm jealous. Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

I live in a geographic area that seems recently prone to power-outages so I went looking for a small TV that would meet my need to have news as I sit at my computer early mornings without waking the household.

This product is perfect for the daily application. The picture is very good and crisp, the sound quality is fine and the "buttons" are intuitive. The new HD stations come in clearly with a small set of "ears."

The only shortcoming is the power source. The batteries are rechargeable and although a DC power source comes with, it does not charge the battery, the battery charges only through the AC charger. This is not the best situation for power outages last for days. I would like a secondary battery pack that uses non rechargeable batteries.

I was impressed with the good feeback on this little TV, so I ordered it. I wanted it for my office to watch my soap during my lunch hour. But when it was delivered to my home, I could not get it to work at my house at all. Tried everything. Even bought a fancy $35 antennae. Packed it up to send it back, but office mate said, why don't you bring it here and just see if it works. I did, and it worked fabulously at my office with an old RCA rabbit ears I've had for forever. The antennae that came with it just wasn't enough. After the channels set up at my office, I brought it home and now it works at home, too. Have no clue why. We only have five or six digital signals in the Little Rock area so no problem with stations having to reset each time you turn the TV on due to lack of memory. PLUS, if you go into the menu and set the balance on the sound all the way to the right, you can get a louder volume. The picture is awesome. The rechargeable battery is great too in case of power outage. The price was excellent. Now I think I can live with this crazy change from analog to digital.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

This is an impressive TV, especially so for the price. I got it for my partner who is in a rehab facility after broken hip surgery. The little antenna that comes with it is pretty much useless, and the salesman at Radio Shack (where the price was $200 and $150 "on sale" for a short time, told me no antenna would work in there.

I got a $17 (list price) cheapie antenna and it picked up every digital station broadcasting in LA. For about $130 with the RS antenna, she has her own personal TV that she can watch anytime of the day or night with a crystal clear picture.

The worst I could say about this is that they should have an American examine the grammar before they print the user guide.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Buy Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

The picture is one of the best I have ever seen. It is crisp, clean, clear, and the colors are true. I have it hooked to cable. It programs itself with the push of one button and I love the remote. The on/off switch is somewhat out of the way on the side. Although it has not been needed for use during a hurricane, it claims the rechargeable battery inside will power the TV for hours once fully charged. It is HD which eliminates the need for a converter box, comes with its own screw-on antenna, car cord, and AC cord. There are inputs for attaching a DVD player or VCR, and an output for headphones. Currently, it is used almost daily on the bathroom vanity for catching the news, weather, and traffic while getting ready for work in the morning. I bought this TV due to owning an earlier model Haier 7" LCD color set which is also excellent and has not given me any trouble. I still own it and it still works fine.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

I bought the HLT71 for a Christmas gift. A decent product at first glance and the only one I could find that fit the size/space requirement. Initially, I tried the external antenna and had very poor picture, so I bit the bullet and pulled cable to desired location. It then worked, but setup was difficult as the manual supplied is totally inadequate - the worst I have seen. After approx 90 days operation, a dashed line appeared across the bottom of the screen. Talking to the Haier Customer Service phone contact revealed they have no factory service center and no technical personnel on their staff. I will live with the problem, but obviously this is a disposable item - if it works, you are OK. If service is needed, throw it away. A pity, as it fills a market niche, and would be really handy - if it worked and if set up instructions were decent.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Where To Buy Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

As I'm sure is the case for many others, the changeover to digital broadcast rendered the small battery operated TV I keep on hand for emergencies obsolete, so I had to go looking for a suitable HD replacement. I purchased one of these because of price, its similarity in size to my old set, and favorable reviews comparing it to the competition.

Out of the box you need to install the battery for it to work, a minor inconvenience. It's use is intuitive, a good thing since I don't tend to read instructions until I get in trouble. I was able to immediately get the set to scan in multiple local HD broadcasts, and most importantly it found all of the stations that are best at staying on air in emergency situations. I did not have the issue some others reported of needing to rescan, confirmed by a quick check after more than a month in storage. The picture is excellent given the small size of the set, and incredibly better than my old one. The supplied antenna is adequate for my needs, although if you want to use the set for regular viewing you probably should invest in one with better gain.

I'm downgrading the set slightly because L-ion batteries do not have great shelf life and the one included is non-standard. The set does need to have the battery installed to work, incidentally. My concern is that when I do pull it out for emergency use the battery will be too weak to be useful, although even then the set should still work OK off an either the AC or car adapter (one is included). It is true the set won't charge off of the car adapter, but if you really are concerned about that, I suggest you simply get a DC to AC adapter for your car to plug the unit's AC adapter into, which of course will then charge the set's battery. It's a good idea to have one of these anyway ... lots of other AC only stuff can then be used. Just be sure you get one that can produce enough Watts; really good ones are available for about $20. The set's normal draw is 10 Watts, but the draw is more when in rapid charge mode for a low battery ... my Watt meter shows as high as 18 Watts, but good DC to AC adapters comfortably produce 75 Watts on up (steer clear of the 5 Watt el cheapo models). Good if I'm close to the TV stations in Seattle area. Will sometimes get digital and analog for each station. Analog is very fuzzy. Digital keeps buzzing and freezing up. Go 4 or 5 miles away and I lose most of the stations. The ones do work are not the main channels I always watch. No stations come in where I live 25 mile away Seattle where I work. I still an old Casio hand held TV that I can see very clear from twice as far away. I was hoping to replace the small 2 inch screen and be ready when everything goes digital.

I love this tv. I have it in my kitchen hooked to my cable.
I can't get any station with the antenna, but I can't get a cell phone signal either. We live in the middle between two mountains. I thought I would get another antenna to see if I could pick up a station but decided to just run cable outside to our pool area. Maybe when they switch to all digital I will be able to get a tv station with the anntenna.
The picture on this tv is great. The sound is very good.
Simple to operate. I would recommend this tv to anyone.

Quality picture. Rechargeable battery which should help on trips. My only complaint is that the antenna that came with the product would not pick up my local channels. I have been able to pick them up with just rabbit ears in the past, but maybe with the digital switch?? I thoroughly researched this product before ordering, reading every review. Wanted it for a small desktop tv, but also as a tiny tv for our vintage camper. Because I'd read the reviews, I knew to re-scan when hooking up the rabbit ears we had onhand... and was delighted with the results. Happy to already be receiving digital signals from some stations that I can't get on my regular tv's at home! Clear picture, receiving several stations. Only thing to upgrade might be a powered antenna - will wait until we see reception at the camper before going that far. Old rabbitears we had onhand are working well at home. Only "regular" channel I can't get is the channel that everyone in town gets poorly on analog, with ghost images - not the fault of the TV! They're not digital yet. Over all a nice portable TV with a decent picture and sound. My only complaint is that it is very poor at receiving channels. I live in a Minneapolis suburb 16 miles from the TV towers in Shoreview. Reception in my home using the attached antenna is hit and miss. All channels are broadcasting with high power and area easily receiveable. In fact I connected the included antenna to a Samsung HDTV and it received all digital stations reliably.

I also took the TV with me on a trip to Las Vegas. At one point I was in a friend's apartment building 4.7 miles from the TV towers and again had less than reliable reception inside. TV worked fine outside though.

I am looking for a truly portable TV that I can take with me on trips and see what TV stations I can pick up. I may return this as the tuner is weak. However, if you have a good TV antenna to connect this to, you should consider this TV. It works pretty well in almost every other way. The only other complaint I have is that it doesn't switch between narrow and wide mode based on the type of TV signal received and the wide-narrow setting is in a menu.

I also checked out the over priced Radio Shack version which is very similar if not identical to the Axion TV. That set is equally insentitive to signal reception however it does switch to wide mode when receiving a 720p or 1080i signal and then back to bars on the side when receiving a 480i signal.

UPDATE:
This is a decent TV with a sensitive tuner, good picture and sound. BUT, you need to get a good signal into the TV and the attached antenna that it comes with just doesn't do that. I'm 16 miles away from the TV towers and it just barely gets enough signal to work and it only picks up some of the local channels.

Many of us are buying this to use when the power is out, which may happen during a bad thunderstorm. What most people don't know is that during a thunderstorm, lightning creates interferance which makes TV reception a little bit more difficult than on a clear day. Lightning increases the noise floor and if you are not receiving enough signal to be above the noise floor, no digital TV will be able to process a signal.

The answer to this is to use a better TV antenna which will receive a stronger signal. I measured the amount of signal that the single Aerial that comes with the TV receives and it receives very little signal. This signal would be overwelmed by static during a thunderstorm. Think of how AM radio sounds when lightning is in the air.

My solution was to purchase a Terk HDTVi antenna. This sells for around $30 on Amazon.com. It does a great job of receiving UHF channels and a decent job of receiving VHF channels. Don't get the powered version, as you may not have power during a storm. Also, don't get other Terk antennas as they are not nearly as effective. In nearly all TV markets, most of the TV stations broadcast their digital signals in the UHF band. For example, in Minneapolis, two channels broadcast in the VHF band and 8 are in the UHF band.

Again, nice TV but it won't work reliably unless you get a better antenna for it. Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

I was very disappointed that the new t.v. would not pick up the local channels as the old analog t.v. would. I had great hopes of being able to view t.v. even when the electricity was off but can't even get channels with the electricity on. I followed every direction provided with the set and even tried the steps again only to get no color on a snowy off channel that we never watch. We should be able to pick up 4-5 good channels not counting the advertisement channel we can barely see. I am very heavy hearted and somewhat angry.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Haier HLT7 7-Inch Portable HDTV
Yes, it's portable. You can carry it easily. The antenna reception (west side of Cleveland), however, is very poor. On cable the picture is fine.

The instructions warn about a possible overheating hazard but say absolutely nothing about the internal battery, its expected length of play or charging time.

Email inquiry about the matter has never been answered.

Judging by many other complaints on this site which echo mine, my advice is not to order in hopes of getting a decent unit. If there is, in fact, a difference from unit to unit, its a roll of the dice, apparently. I'll stick with a reliable, well established brand in th future!!Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Lowest Price Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

This receiver does everything it claims. Very satisfied and highly recommended. On my good outdoor antenna, this receiver actually is more sensitive than my big model. Once batteries are fully charged, a channel scan will find all available stations and store it in the database. For best results, I suggest connecting it to a good outdoor antenna. Once a station is stored in the database, it will automatically seek it even on a weaker signal from the internal antenna. If you don't have a good outdoor antenna, but want better reception than internal antenna can provide, pair this receiver up with a Philips PHDTV1 amplified indoor antenna. Only drawback to whole setup is that some controls/adjustments are on the remote only. But this is a minor point. Overall 10 out of 10.

The portable TV I purchased,Haier Model HLT71,has been a total disaster. The first one I received had a problem with the remote control and the battery would not recharge. When I first talked to their customer service dept. they said they would send me a replacement but I would have to pay a $14.95 shipping charge. I flatly refused and finally got someone to waive the shipping charge. I got the replacement which worked for several days and then failed. Again the batteries would not charge up.I called again and they are sending me another replacement. I don't have much hope that it will work or last for very long. I also fear I will have a considerable problem when I ask for my money back; $119.95.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Save Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

When it would scan the channels, it didn't pick up any of the local ones that I usually watch for the news etc. Only picked up one that had a pretty good picture. Nothing came in using the antenna that came with it, I used a booster and rabbit ears and each time I turned it on I had to rescan it and each time it would either drop a channel from before or add a new one. Still the quality wasn't good enough to actually watch it, and it was inconsistant from day to day. I think it would have been okay on cable, had it continued to work. BUT!! The next time I tried to turn it on, it wouldn't scan or do anything. All it had was a white screen and nothing worked, not the menu, nothing. So I returned it. Had it worked, it would have been a perfect size for my kitchen, it was very cute. I hope someone comes up with a portable tv that actually works soon.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

We tried the Haier HLT71 TV by putting it next to our 25-year old 5" Emerson (which will be useless once the digital conversion takes place). The Haier sound and picture quality were much worse. The sound was like mice in a tin can and the picture looked like an Arctic snowstorm compared with the old CRT TV. Also we could get only 2 channels, compared with 12 on the old one. Both TVs have the same type antenna - single telescoping mast. And, yes, we performed all proper set up operations on the Haier according to the manual - several times.
By the way - the 7" Haier screen was the same size as the old Emerson 5", just wider, which stretches out your picture so that round heads become oval heads.
Since we got it at Amazon, it was simple to return. Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Cheap Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I am enjoying this little TV very much! I hooked it up to my Cable and have it in my home office. The antenna provided does not work very well in dense areas, but does in open areas. I plan on buying a digital antenna soon as recommend by other users, most likely an indoor one. The picture is fantastic and sound in just fine for it's size (even better with headphones). The main reason I choose this model is it had volume control on the remote and charges the battery from the car lighter. I shopped for many different portable "digital compliant' TVs for a few days, and this one was the best available. I would highly recommend this model to anyone who has the same desire. I can't wait to try it when camping with a digital antenna. Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.
