I foolishly ignored the other reviews complaining about reception. I live in a highly populated area, and I'm close to a number of transmitters, I didn't think I'd have a problem. I get many over-the-air digital broadcast with my main TV.
With the supplied antenna, I could only pick up two stations, and the picture quality was TERRIBLE. So I hooked the unit up to a very nice Winegard digital antenna (SS-3000) that I have use with my Tivo; it picked up a few stations, but still not the ones I was interested in. (I tried all the different scan options in the menu).
I had the TV hooked up the SAME antenna, in the same position and using the same cables... the Tivo picks up at least 20 stations, the Haier got about four. Pathetic.
Its not a defective unit. I did get a few stations in pretty well. It works fine if you have it connected to a cable TV signal with a coax. But its useless for digital OTA broadcasts in my experience.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.
