Low Price Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I purchased this tv to use in the bathroom for watching news and such as we get ready in the morning. We mounted it on the wall using the tripod attachment on the bottom. We hooked it up to the house antenna and get really good pictures from all the Philadelphia stations, and even New York stations. The sound is adequate, actually better than another 7" we had before. I like this tv so much that I bought another one about 3 weeks later to use in the kitchen, too. Now all we have to do is put up our new roof antena so we are ready for the digital conversion in 2 weeks. We subscribe to Directv for our main tv's, but didn't want to pay for service in these other rooms just to watch occasionally, so this Haier 7" is perfect. Discount Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I bought this TV prior to the "digital change" and it's great ! The price was AWESOME ! I'd been searching for a good deal and got it ! I had to buy a better antenna that had a stronger signal, but that only cost me another $30....so for about $135, it's a great TV !! I was able to pick up 15 channels and that's just going thru digital. The picture, sound and color are FANTASTIC ! I'd recommend it to anyone that needs to save space on their desk, kitchen...etc. GREAT BUY !!Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

This is a great replacement for my old analog 5" battery TV. If it had used "C" or "D" batteries, I would have given it 5 stars! This area was without power for 14 days after Hurricane Ike last year so that anything battery operated was in great demand. My only complaint so far is that power is required to recharge the lithium battery and the size of the screen. It was just too funny to see 8 people crowded around to see the 10 PM News and Weather for 15 min each night. I'm really hoping that this was an unnecessary purchase - but - I'm prepared for the new hurricane season. Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Cheap Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I bought this TV for use in my kitchen which is cramped, and for emergenices during power outages and similar events. I was able to connect the video inputs to my Sony Digital8 video deck (which is about the same size as the Haier TV) and view my D8 tapes with flawless clarity. The picture "temp" as well as basic color functions operate very good, and allow you to tailor the color to your liking. The tuner of the Haier TV is very good. It has picked every local analog TV station for my area (Wash.DC), and 4 that are broadcasting a digital signal. If there is one caveat to this TV it's that the remote does not seem to be too responsive. It seems I have to point it in the Haier's "face" so to speak, to get it to respond. I think the issue may be the cheap-o batteries that came with it. Couple the product with Amazon's quick delivery and it was a bargain. Exceptionally satisfied.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Buying Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

Haier HLT71 7-Inch Portable LCD TV
There are already many reviews of this little TV so I will focus on just one point - its reception. We bought this TV to replace an analog, battery powered TV for use in emergencies and for its portability for moving room to room. However, with its included antenna, which must be relied on during power outages, the reception is unacceptable. We live just outside a large city in the area where all the broadcast TV towers are located. In fact, we can see three of them from our house and all the major network towers are within 3 miles. With our analog portable we never even had to extend the antenna and on our household TVs we use a straightened paper clip for UHF. Digital converter boxes work with the included monopole antenna on the TV the box is attached to. However, the Haier will not even recognize the digital NBC channel and breaks up on the digital ABC channel. PBS is broadcasting on analog and four digital subchannels - the Haier doesn't even know they're there! Fortunately we were able to return the unit to Amazon for a refund.
So, if you're looking for a reliable battery operated TV to keep you informed during those tornado warnings, hurricanes, or blizzards I would NOT recommend the Haier.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Buy Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

This has a clear, sharp picture. Easy to setup for the first time use.
Very compact and lightweight. The digital signal was capable of being picked up for the channels/stations in the area where I live. I did take it with to the coffee shop while studying and did a rescan and was able to pickup more channels.

I would give it 5 stars but two things I find lacking.
1. The battery life could be longer and I haven't found the information where to find a spare or replace the battery. But the battery is replacable.
2. The antenna should be more compact so it folds down to the size of the TV. When folded down the antenna stub sticks out the side which gives it the free range motion when in use; the telescopic antenna when shortened is longer than the TV. But the antenna comes off easy enough so it is not enough of a deterrent to not buy the TV.
The overall quality of this TV offsets the downside.

Please post if someone knows where to get additional batteries. During a storm it would be nice to have a battery with longer life or extra batteries charged up to replace.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

I live within 2 miles of a major television station (CBS) and within 10 miles of another 2 (NBC, ABC). This television could not properly receive the digital signal. Lots of pixelation. I didn't try attaching a different antenna because that would defeat the portability of the set. I've returned it for a refund. Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Where To Buy Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I've had to return two of these...one because of sound, the next because the picture just suddenly went out and I have not even plugged in the third yet since the over-the-air programs are still running and I'm using my old little TV until I can't anymore. The sound on this thing really does need an extra boost and anything past the middle of the sound spectrum is the same loudness. I am going to look into attaching some small speakers to it. It does not pick up any of the local stations even though I know I can get them on my old TV with the antenna. I even took it to work knowing we can pick up stations there with the antenna and I get nothing. Not sure this could be used as an emergency TV. I do like the picture on it and have it attached to a cable I had to run across the living room and into the kitchen (where I use this one). It's OK, but it's not exceptional.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Shop For Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I bought this on sale (Target) and it was well worth the price. This portable tv has a built-in tuner that handles the digital conversion so you won't have to worry.

Note that the unit must be stationary for it to work properly as a television. You cannot use this for watching tv in any type of moving vehicle (that would have been sweet). The built-in antennae works if you are in a good spot. I live in New York and I get enough channels but when I travel outside of my area, it can get a little spotty and you have to sit there adjusting by increments to try and get a station. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with urban vs. rural. I wonder if there are regional digital maps available? The reception needs to be tweeked.

The picture quality is okay; I have no complaints based on the price paid. The best feature for me is the video jack that lets me attach my Creative Zen or almost any other gadget for a better viewing experience.

It's a nice addition to for trips, especially camping. I primarily use it for a larger viewing screen then a tv but that option is great to have as well. Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Had this little TV out of the box and scanning for local channels in just a few minutes. Living near the city, I was able to pick up 19 channels with the little antenna provided. Amazingly clear picture for 9 of them 24/7 inside the house. I have this in the kitchen near the laundry room. We live in tornado country and I was dreading the switch over to digital- as the little battery op black and white portable I own has been tuned to the news during tornado warnings while we huddled in the basement with power out and watched satellite tracking on local news.

This little gem is perfect for the kitchen and portable to boot- so glad I picked this up.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

I was excited to get this TV and the reception wasn't very good but I thought after 06/12/2009 with on digital coming from the airway it would get better. Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV Buy Now

I bought this on a whim a few days ago. I wasn't sure about the purchase; I thought I would probably be returning it. I mean seriously - a portable TV w/rechargeable battery for a hundred bucks? Boy was I wrong!

I was quite amazed with the picture quality. Very crisp, clear, good colors. I'm over 40 miles away from the TV towers in Chicago, so I was only able to pull in a few stations with the stock antenna. When I hooked this up to CATV or a small external HDTV antenna, WOW! Channel setup was quick, the OSD is decent, and the remote control, while perhaps a bit too small (and easily lost) is more than adequate.

My two (minor) complaints are the lack of a protective sleeve/case, and the kickstand on the back of the unit is not very sturdy. But don't let those issues dissuade you - this is a great unit!Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

I am very happy with this little tv. I needed to replace a small kitchen tv that I have had for many years. I had to replace it due to it's not being digital. I did have to purchase a better indoor antenna as the one supplied with the tv was useless. I called the company and that was their suggestion as I could not get any channels at all with the antenna that came with it. I mainly use this tv to watch the news while I am fixing dinner or cleaning up afterwards. There are a couple of local channels that still do not come in at all, but it does receive several local channels.

The one criticism I would have for this product is that the user manual is inadequate and in hard-to-read small print. It was fairly easy to set up, but there were a couple of times when I had to refer to it and had to use a magnifying glass to read it. Also I don't believe the manual had any kind of troubleshooting guide, which would have helped when I couldn't get it to work with the antenna supplied. However, when I called, I did get an answer to my problem pretty quickly. I was about to send it back when I couldn't get it to work initially.

Anyway all in all, it is a good, little tv for the price.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

We purchased this TV for use in Florida during the hurricane season when the power goes off. (Our old portable TV was analog.) Cheapest Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I ordered this tv on 07Jun and recd it 15Jun. After reading the instructions I found my Batt was already hooked up. I attached the dipole antenna that came with the set to determine what it could do and it pulled in a few stations. As I was previously using a converter with my portable analog tv I knew what stations were available to me. I connected my Radio Shack rabbit ears with UHF antenna and had trouble getting one station or getting it without another. After about 6 tries moving my antenna to different positions I got all my available channels programed into the set. Now, I sometimes have to adjust the antenna a bit depending on the channel I choose. It doesn't seem to be quite as strong as the converter for holding a station. However, I purchased it for my camper and the size is perfect and it's flat enough to hang on the wall with a home made hanger. The color is great, the sound is real good [2 speakers in the front], it's very easy to program and adjust. When you send it a command to turn on or change channels you need to give it a few seconds to execute, so patience is in order. After fully charging the batt I ran the unit off of it and it operated just over 2hrs and it's a snap to recharge. The remote is, as others have commented, the kind you have to point directly at the set. The buttons are pretty easy to manipulate even with fatter fingers. As a caveat I live in an area with good signals. That being said, this is a real nice tv and it seems to operate very well and without bugs; so far.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

This is a great little TV. The only thing about it that I could complain about is that the included antenna is junk. It really needs a good quality HD antenna. Buying Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

Well...our local TV station posted several links of various portable bat op TVs we could possibly buy to have here in strong storm and hurricane land. Now I can tell you I already miss my battery op. anolog 8 D batteries, little NOW VINTAGE TV-batteries die, just put in more! I dont have a converter box, I live rather rural, tho Im near a major city (TAMPA) they still wont bring cable/dsl/fios to us rural folk out here in Plant City-there is some, but its mostly around the city and for people who live close to the road. So were stuck with satilitte TV-which isnt bad, but there is LOTS of RAIN n CLOUD fade and when it goes out it can stay out for 30 min-to 2 hours-not good during severe weather. So even tho I have a generator that will run my TV n sat box...I would still have no picture during bad storms. ANd I have a weather radio...but I like seeing radar and that's a big drain on your laptop when your stuck with a 5GB wifi card becasue there is no high speed out here and dial up wont allow you to load radar intensive pages. I needed an alternative. I was skeptical ordering one of these considering where I live, I figured Id be one of those people who would be lucky to get one station. Im in the middle of a cow pasture. I tried to look up my location on AtennaWeb, no luck. So I took a chance. Well it arrived, after reading the other review (Fantastic) I quickly realized I could figure this out without even looking at the directions. I screwed in the antenna it came with and it wouldnt stay tight...unless you propped it up against a wall. Not good. Couldnt get ANY channels. Figured right, considering I live in no where ville in the middle of a cow pasture I expected this. Started to pout. Went and got the REAL rabbit ears, screwed them in...walked outside next to a cow and rescanned. Got 1 channel. Rescanned 2 more times. Now Im happy to report I have 26 PLUS channels-channels I didnt even know where out there! ALl work in the house now too, tho I do have to adjust the rabbit ears on certain channels. I get 2 out of the 3 major networks! YAY! and the one I dont get I dont really want. The picture is VERY CLEAR and pretty-makes my big TV look sick! It comes with a nifty little remote WITH BATTERIES (thats nice of them) and a car charger too!-and cords so you can hook right to your cable or sat. box.-No power? Plug it in to your cig liter.! The only bad things I can say are the antenna it comes with-CHUCK IT-its worthless. When you change channels sometimes you have to give them a minute to come in-its not INSTANT like analog. If they dont come in all u have to do is move the antenna. Now the inst. book. A.) Dont even bother reading it. B.) If you do be prepared for one of those BADLY translated Chinese to English deals-its rather comical but not very helpful. If it wasnt for the antenna, not being able to purchase a seperate back up battery and the poorly written inst. manual, I'd give it 5 stars. Minus those I can only muster a 4, but Im very happy with it, esp. considering my remote and rural location and now I dont think I ll be getting a converter box.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Brought this through the analog to digital conversion, and aside from rescanning a few times, it works great. As other reviews indicated, the enclosed antenna is inadequate for a few reasons, but since I had a couple of extra antennae from the purchase of my large TV, I tried them both. Oddly enough, in my market (NYC), the unpowered antenna works better.
For me the best thing is that it runs on 18 watts, versus the 100 watts the big TV runs on.
Nice size, nice picture, good audio volume. Let's hope it lasts....Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

I have been looking for a product just like this all over stores and on the net, I live in Texas and in the DFW area and we get alot of storms out here and not to long ago we were in the dark under tornado watch and we didn't know what was going on until we heard the sirens going off thats the reason I got this tv. First we saw in a few shoppers/store ads like Jcpenny's and Fry's had two tv's like this they look so rinky dinky and not worth the money. So i keep looking around and this one looks so nice and it looked like a normal flat screen tv bought 2 of them one for me and one for my mother both picked up over 30 channels on the scan. It looks amazing the quality is just as i expected. As for the comments on here of not getting any channels I guess it really depends where you live because I got all of them including HD channels in my area. Where To Buy Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I bought one of these for $99.00 on sale at my local Target store. I really liked the TV, but tried several times to scan for my local stations (Cincinnati) and could only get 4 channels. That would have been fine, but there was so much "snow" you couldn't make out a picture! I kept it long enough to try it after the digital switch. Rescaned again and it was worse then because if it won't pull in the channel you get a blue screen which is all I got! I could have added a better anntenna, but that defeats the purpose of a portable TV. I had to return it. Let me know if there is a good small TV out there, I'm still looking.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Don't buy this. After the digital change all the channels break up on a consistent basis, even with an expensive high-end digital antenna. And it's not weak signals, as the company disclaimer says. I tried it
only a couple of miles, in an unobstructed line, from the transmitters. Maybe it works with cable, but who buys a portable 7 inch tv for in-home cable?

This is a very lightweight, compact portable TV. Great picture and even works well with just the antenna. We bought this for our Macaw to keep her entertained. She's a big, loud parrot (my husband's) with her own little room in the basement and this is PERFECT! A bit extravagant for a parrot, I know, but it keeps her quiet when she's not upstairs or outside. Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV Immediately

I bought this TV to replace one in my kitchen that was 33 years old (and never had a problem). When I first got it, about a week before the transition, it worked great. Since the digital switch I can only get one channel to come in. I live in a large metropolitan area (Baltimore/Washington) and another tv that I have on a converter box gets over 25 channels. So there is either something wrong with this TV or the antenna is so bad that it can't pick anything up. Plus the antenna unscrews every time you try to turn it. This might be a great tv if you hook it up to cable but don't buy it and expect to get reception with the antenna that it came with.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV Best Quality

WOW! This thing is really bad at picking up on air TV. I have tried every room in the house, every possible length and position of the antenna and I have not gotten a glimmer of local TV stations. I have used the auto scan and I have keyed channel numbers in with the remote. Nothing! This thing has to have the weakest tuner in existence.
I went out and drove around town stopping frequently and running an auto scan. One time I received a channel, but, then I moved the TV about a quarter inch and it broke up. When I tried to move back to what I thought was my original position and got the "Failed To Receive Broadcast" message that now is so familiar to me.
In my opinion this thing is of no value at all and I am going to return it and get a real, portable TV.
I reluctantly had to give this thing one star in order to submit my review. It's not worth any stars.

Ok, this Tv suffers from a poor antenna (I just left the antenna in the box). I plug mine into a good HDTV antenna and I get over 30 stations where I live. If I plug it into my home cable, I get all the stations as expected (even the cable analog is picked up). It actually has a good picture. Speakers could be slightly better, but I am happy. I'm actually thinking of buying another one of these for the bathroom because I like it so much. The remote has volume and channel changing ability (buttons are a little small) but works. There can be a slight delay sometimes pressing a button to actions on the TV (but nothing big). I would have liked the RF input to be in the back of the TV instead of the side so that the cable would not stick out so much from the right side. These would make great gifts for friends, just do not count on the antenna that comes in the box (it is just terrible). One negative I do not like is that during the auto scan, it list all the channels (even ones it cannot pick up). You have to let it finish and then manually tell it to hide stations that are "blank" or it has no signal on. Other 7" TVs like the Viore actually filter out all "blank" channels like it should. I kept the Haier over the Viore, because it could detect my cable companies analog stations as well as the digital. The Viore could not detect my analog stations at all. If you do not care about using the included TV antenna in the box, this is really a great TV for the money and size. Looks great in my office. I just hope the electronics hold up over time.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

I bought this tv primarily as a "backup" for hurricane season--my electricity was out 8 days after Hurricane Ike last year. I'm very disappointed in this tv because I can't receive the basic local channels even in this large Houston market. I've gone to every room in my house and even out in the yard. When I finally do get a channel it breaks up so bad that it's not watchable. Other reviewers have suggested buying more powerful antennas but they require electricity which defeats the purpose of my buying the set to begin with. I'm a RVer and got this because it is 12v.
but found that you can hook it to your IPOD (if video capable) and show the movies on this without anything being plug into an electrical outlet!! How good is that for tent camping! Tested battery got 2-1/2 hours of use with brightness up.Images I took look a bit soft but the pic on the TV is sharp and clear and has different modes, soft, warm, cool, etc. Great TV and with an IPOD you have a couple of hours of use. 'Unit seems well made everything is tight and the case a bit rubberized, i already dropped it once, no problem. 'Remote is a bit small for big hands that's all i can see wrong.

Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV Decide Now

The picture quality is remarkable, however, it doesn't pick up more than 2 channels in my metropolitan area. And Haier customer service is the worst!!! First we were told to go to Radio Shack and purchase a digital, attachable antenna. Radio Shack personnel says they don't sell such an item. Our second call to Haier, the rep said "we can't help you. You'll just have to send it back." But we are being put through hoops via email to get the required "send back" number!!!! UGH! Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV Right now

The Haier HLT71 7-inch portable LCD TV works well. When hooked to cable the picture is as clear as the larger LCD TVs. When working from the antenna the reception is good on a couple of stations bad on others but that is because of the poor signals from the local stations. The other TVs do not receive the signals well either. I recommend this portable TV. Living in Florida it was purchased for hurricane season since we loose our power often during the storms. Bad power company.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Lowest Price Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I just want to remind people to make sure the antennae is plugged in very good or you might not get a station that is harder to get. Soon as I realized that, the portable tv worked excellent.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Low Price Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I got what I wanted when I purchased this TV. It's just the right size and the picture is great. It does not tune in when traveling on the road. I knew that when I purchased it. It does have to be in just the right spot to tune in if you are not close to a tower. It has a beautiful picture when connected to cable as well as when you tune into a tower. I have not tried to connect with an external TV antenna, but other reviews say this might help. I might try that in the future.
It does what I need it to do.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Save Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I purchased this tv back in march in anticipation of the digital conversion in June to give to my mom as a gift (she enjoys watching the soaps on her lunch break and only had a portable analog tv). I could have spent $100 and purchased an empty box and gotten more use out of it. She has been unable to get any signals on it and when I contacted the manufactor was advised we would need upgrade the antenna , which we did and to no avail. There is still no signal. Now of course because its past the 30 day mark we are getting the run around in an attempt to return the totally useless item. It looks like its going to end up being a very expensive play toy for my toddler.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.

Discount Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV

I was very unhappy with this purchase and have returned it. After living through Hurricane Ike with my very old battery operated TV my only news source for 2 weeks, I am looking for a replacement now that digital TV is my only option. I was only able to get 1 local station here in Houston just CBS. The TV was not worth it.Get more detail about Haier HLT71 7-Inch Handheld LCD TV.
